Honey

Honey is primarily composed of fructose, glucose and water.

It also contains other sugars as well trace enzymes, minerals, vitamins and amino acids; Honey is a complex mix of:

(80%) natural sugars
(18%) water
(2%) minerals, vitamins, pollen and protein

Honey is "manufactured" in one of the world's most efficient factories, the beehive.

The colour and flavour of honey differ depending on the bees' nectar source (the blossoms).

Bees can fly up to six miles, although one or two is more common. Within this radius, depending on the flower variety, they can gather nectar from many different types of flower (polyflora honeys) or from one kind of flower (monofloral honeys).

A hive only needs 20-30 lb of honey to survive an average winter which means that the extra honey can be harvested.

A strong colony can produce 2-3 times more honey than they need.
